About Greenleaf Garden Club

Membership

Meetings are held usually on the third Monday of each month at 6 pm September-December and February-May at the Ruth Ann Bleakney Senior Center in Milford. We take a break from meetings in the summer; however, we do plan several field trips during this time. Most meetings are open to the public – it’s a great opportunity to come get to know us and consider membership. Our members include those who are just beginning to garden and those who are very knowledgeable. From workshops and programs, we all enjoy learning more about gardening, horticulture, landscape design and flower arranging. We give back to the community through our various programs (see our Community page). We have two fundraising events each year: Our Wreath Sale in November and our Spring Fundraiser in May. Proceeds from these events enable us to continue with our community projects.

Mission Statement

Our mission statement is to promote the knowledge and love of gardening and floral design and to support garden related civic development in the town of Milford. Our objectives are to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening and in floral design and to promote better horticultural practices, civic beauty and the conservation of natural resources.

History of GGC

In March of 1968, the Greenleaf Garden Club was founded. Greenleaf was the town phone exchange and a suitable title for a club that wanted to do some gardening. Eight ladies were the founding members, including one who is still an active member today.

The Greenleaf Garden Club of Milford, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. We became a permanent affiliate of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and the National Garden Clubs in 1973. We are also a member of Worcester County Horticultural Society (New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill).
