Community Beautification – The Town Planters

Junior Gardeners

Garden Therapy

Our members volunteer their time, skills and knowledge to many projects in Milford:

Garden Therapy –  Flower arranging workshops are held at the Countryside Healthcare facility on a Saturday six times during the year. Approximately 30 residents participate each month, and many club members share in this activity.

Junior Gardeners – Milford School children are given the opportunity to participate in gardening as part of the after school environmental curriculum during the school year. Topics covered include birds, wildlife and conservation concepts.

Community Beautification – A long-range program has been implemented with the Town of Milford to beautify the grounds of the Milford Town Library, General Draper Park, Town Hall, the traffic islands on Main Street, Route 140 and Route 109, the Senior Center, Calzone Square and Memorial Hall.

Scholarships – The Greenleaf Garden Club of Milford awards a scholarship in the amount of $1000 to a member of the senior class at Milford High School or a senior at Blackstone Valley Regional Technical School who is a resident of Milford.  A new scholarship has been funded this year in memory of our long-time member – The Hazel M. Schroder Memorial Scholarship – in the amount of $500 to be awarded to a member of the senior class at Milford, Mendon or Hopedale who will study environmental science.

Congratulations to our 2023 Scholarship recipients

The recipient of the 2023 Hazel M. Schroder $500 Memorial Scholarship is Rillary Madruga Ferreira.

Rillary is a graduating senior from Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School and will be attending UMass Amherst to study at the Honors College for Civil Environmental Engineering. She has an outstanding academic record, ranked 12 out of 294 in her class, and served as vice-president of Students for Environmental Action. The organization focused on issues such as excessive plastic waste, and connected with state legislators with various solutions. She dreams of a successful career as an environmental engineer.

The 2023 recipient of the Greenleaf Garden Club of Milford $1000 Scholarship is Haley K. Jansons.

Haley is a graduating senior from Milford High School and has been accepted to Duke University to study environmental science. She has a stellar academic record, ranked number 1 out of 310 in her class, and has numerous Honor Society awards. During high School she has volunteered many hours to the Community Harvest Project, a non-profit farm growing food that is donated to local food banks. Duke runs a similar program and she plans to volunteer there as well. The selection committee was so impressed by Haley’s choice to use her talents and time to sustaining and revitalizing the environment, and helping people.
